Colchester United manager Joe Dunne felt his side deserved a draw from their match at in-form Bournemouth.

The U’s were narrowly beaten 1-0 at Dean Court and have lost seven of their last eight matches, in all competitions.

Lewis Grabban’s well-taken goal just before half-time proved the difference between the two sides but Colchester produced a stirring second-half display which left Bournemouth glad to hear the final whistle.

Dunne said: “I thought that we deserved a draw - our game plan was spot on.

“We got back to basics a bit based on the selections that we had to make with the suspensions and illnesses that we had.

“I thought the back four were excellent in the first half but we switched off for their goal.

“I’m disappointed that the ball has ended up in the net and I think our goalkeeper could have saved it but I would need to see it again.

“He made some good saves in the match.”
