Colchester United manager Joe Dunne has admitted he must sell before making any permanent signings when the transfer window reopens next month.

The U’s boss has drawn up a January shopping list with a view to bolstering his squad for the second half of the League One season.

However, in order to generate funds Dunne will have to allow current players to leave the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

That could mean the likes of highly-rated midfielder Anthony Wordsworth leaving Colchester, in order to generate cash.

Dunne said: “I expect movement in the January transfer window, both in and out."
