Colchester United development coach Richard Hall was impressed with his side after they thrashed Harlow Town last night.

A vastly experienced U’s side beat their Ryman League division one north opponents 8-1, in the Essex Senior Cup third round.

Hall said: “It was good for the younger players and playing alongside the senior players would have been a great learning experience for them.

“It was even good for the boys who were sat on the bench with me, watching the way the senior players approached the game.

“The game is never too easy and if our standards are high, hopefully we can do it more often.

“These players can go as high as they want to - it’s up to them.

“We don’t want them to drop their standards and they have to apply themselves every minute that they’re training or playing.”

Great News! This bodes so well for the future, with confidence beginning to return to the first team and development squad overall, the signs are looking promising! I , like many others are now becoming filled with anticipation for the future! It is becoming more and more exciting! Admittedly, Joe's loanees have ALL impressed without exception, and that has made for competition in the squad. What a result regardless of the opposition, Harlow no doubt put out their strongest squad in any event. Well done, lads! Up the U's!!

Not only do I feel the excitement that other U's fans have expressed, I feel very proud to support the Club in relation to a) the young lad who received a wack in the head from the ball at Shrewsbury, and b) the support being given by the Club to charities and community work, such as the campaign for eradicating knife crime. Well done, Col U!
