U's game at Walsall is postponed after pitch inspection

By Jonathan Waldron »

Colchester United's game at Walsall tomorrow has been postponed.

The League One fixture has been called off, following a noon pitch inspection at the Banks's Stadium.

Match referee Rob Lewis made the decision, after some areas of the pitch were frozen.

Temperatures are expected to dip to around minus four or below in the Walsall area tonight and the decision was made to postpone the fixture.

The cancellation leaves the U's without a game for more than a fortnight, with their last taste of action their 1-0 win at Leyton Orient on January 28.

Colchester's next scheduled fixture is their home match against Brentford, next Tuesday night.
