Colchester United have today completed the signing of experienced midfielder Martin Rowlands.
The 32-year-old Republic of Ireland international was released by Premier League club Queens Park Rangers by mutual consent and has joined the U's on a free transfer.
Rowlands started his career at Wycombe Wanderers but did not play a competitive game for the Chairboys.
He left to join non-league side Farnborough Town and impressed enough to attract the eye of Brentford, who he signed for in 1998.
Rowlands spent five seasons at Griffin Park, making more than 150 appearances for the Bees.
He left to join QPR in the summer of 2003 and played nearly 200 times for the west London side over nine years.
But he suffered a number of injuries during his long spell at Loftus Road, including an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for Republic of Ireland in October, 2009.
Rowlands' last match action came during his loan spell at Wycombe earlier this season, when he featured in the Chairboys' game against Exeter City on Boxing Day.

just say one thing.kem is not useless.he is a tireless worker when he plays and never shirks a challenge.he has been an a good servant to col u.
