John Ward has poured scorn on speculation linking striker Kayode Odejayi with a move to Championship side Millwall.
And the Colchester United manager confirmed he does not expect any of his players to leave, ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.
Reports in the national press suggested that Odejayi, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was a target for the Lions.
However, Ward said he would be the first to know if there was any interest in the powerful U’s front-man, as he is a long-time friend of Millwall manager Kenny Jackett.
Jackett was a player at Watford during Ward’s spell as assistant manager to Graham Taylor, at Vicarage Road.
Ward said: “Kenny and I are very good friends and we talk a lot, so I would imagine I would be the first person he’d contact.”
