Ashley Vincent has admitted his latest injury setback is fuelling his desire to come back stronger.
The luckless Colchester United winger was on the verge of a first-team comeback when he suffered a fresh hamstring injury in training, last month.
The 26-year-old has been sidelined for more than two months after limping out of the U’s FA Cup defeat against Swindon Town, in early December.
Vincent had returned to training and was on the verge of a comeback, before suffering a pull in a different part of his hamstring.
However, he is now about to resume running exercises and insisted he is focused on finishing the season strongly with Colchester.
He said: “It makes me more determined to come back stronger.
“I don’t want to feel like I’m letting myself or my team-mates down.
“This season has been a non-starter so far, at a time when I really need to be playing regularly.
“But I’m pretty positive when I sit down and assess things and I can’t just sit around and mope.
“There are still 19 games left this season.
“I’d like to think I’ll be in and around the first-team picture for the last dozen or so games of the season.”
