Steven Gillespie came off the bench to score two late goals and secure Colchester United their second successive win with a 2-1 triumph over Brentford tonight.
Colchester received a let-off early on when Niall McGinn's long-range effort rattled the far post.
But the U's came close to scoring when Ian Henderson forced Bees goalkeeper Richard Lee to save from close range.
Colchester fell behind 11 minutes after the break when McGinn lashed home from inside the area, after the U's had failed to clear the lines following Ben Williams' penalty save from Gary Alexander.
The U's sent on Kayode Odejayi, Steven Gillespie and Martin Rowlands after that, in a bid to force an equaliser.
And Gillespie levelled with seven minutes to go, following up to score from close range after Anthony Wordsworth's fierce shot had rattled the bar.
Gillespie then netted with a long-range swerving effort that eluded Lee and sailed in, to give Colchester a dramatic win.
U's boss John Ward said: "It was the first time we've come from behind to win in the league this season.
"It was a good win after the period out (because of the snow) and I think Brentford were four points in front of us before the game.
"We're now a point behind them and it was a very good result.
“We conceded the goal and we gave free-kicks away which we hadn’t done in the first period and looked a little bit sloppy and a little bit slow to react to things.
“But the changes helped I think – the comeback was strong and so was the finish and the goals helped give us the confidence to do so.
“It needed to change and we had some strength on our bench."

Its easy to be negative about a poor performance but take the points and run. Sadly I feel that the tinker man will fiddle with the squad for the next game, and even this late in the season it still seems to be the fans that know the better side to select and not the manager?

Also whos fault is it that the attendance keeps dropping at the WHCS? baring in mind that last night was in halfterm, and the club didnt do anything to attract the younger supporters. If they gave a young fan a ticket for a £1, then they could come with full paying parent(s) which would get some support into the stadium. If you saw that game as a new Col Utd fan last night, would you go again???? We started off with good numbers when we first started at WHCS, and then they gradually went down to loyal fans, now we are just scrapping on 3k, what are the odds of dropping to 2k pretty soon.
finally some sensible comments! look at whats happening at rangers/portsmouth where they are in financial trouble from overspending etc I for one am happy I have a stable club i'll still be able to support in ten years time. Supporters should have a reality check, we are a small club who play infront of small crowds in a big stadium. the big stadium doesn't make us a big club. Whats happened at Huddersfield is exactly the example of what is going wrong in football at the moment, 3 defeats in 56 games and the manager gets the sack, after 2 games without a win! Really?!! I for one get frustrated at times watching the u's, and i don't like the 4-5-1 formation BUT booing, moaning and complaining and shouting for the manager to get the sack? how does this help anyone other than the opposition... At our games certain sections of the crowd start moaning unless we are winning in the first ten minutes....get a grip!!

You mentioned that he covered for white/wilson, where in fact I saw James cover for him, while Izzet just saw Brentford players walking past him. Izzet didnt go in for tackles, and when he did he gave freekicks. He lost the ball countless times, and didnt go into positions for passes. When he got the ball he passed back, and one led to one of their attacks. I think we both see a different Kem Izzet, but thats the Kem Izzet I saw yday. Sorry
Some very different views on here, which is always good. One that I happen to pick up on (and often do) is the negativity towards Kem Izzet. I put above that I think he had a good game, not the best he has had and not the best player on the night, but a great solid performance all the same. Everyone is entitled to their opinion towards any player, but 2 or 3 comments have singled him out as a bad performer. Just for the record, he has started the last two games and we have won them both. Thats 100% Before those two games he only started 2 games out of 10, of which our record was 3 wins, 2 draws and 5 (FIVE) defeats and those defeats included the 1-5 mk dons, 1-6 Stevenage and 1-2 chesterfield disasters. Thats about 30% Chance? Maybe!!!! It seems that players like Kem Izzet are foundations. He may not have flair or technical ability, but puts himself in positions that other players don't. He may pass the ball sideways or backwards, but he always does the dirty work for the luxury players like Wordsworth to get forward, and therefore creates chance for the team without even touching the ball. Rant over.......... Well done the U'S

So, the manager picks the same team that beat Orient last time out... and the usual suspects complain that the team should have been changed. The same people that will complain 'why change a winning team.'
As the manager says, he stands of falls by his decisions. Last night he made the decision to keep his powder dry and then release the three subs at a time when we needed a change of impetus. It worked; and thats to be lauded.
With respect to the poster saying that we the fans know JWs best team and he doesn't, give 100 fans a chance to pick the team, formation etc and you'll get 100 different teams etc.
And don't forget, the coaching team scout opponents and have to also pick a team to combat their strength and exploit their weaknesses. Its not championship manager on the PC!
Well done one and all, perhaps we could and should have played better! But however you get them, 3 points are very welcome!

anyway as for steve86's comments, i wasn't neccessarily speaking of tuesday as an example to the moaning fans, maybe its just where i was sat but the negative 'support' exists! i recall a rallying cry from parky in our promotion winning season when the crowds were dwindling and also what was left were moaning - we beat doncaster with a couple of own goals and it all got better after that; stay positive!
