Vincent not bitter over U's exit
11:50am Monday 18th June 2012 in npower League One Table & Results By Jonathan Waldron
No hard feelings - U's winger Ashley Vincent says he is not bitter about leaving Colchester United.
Ashley Vincent has admitted his Colchester United career has come to a “natural end”.
But the winger has insisted he is not bitter about his U’s exit.
Vincent’s three-and-a-half year stint at the Weston Homes Community Stadium will end when his contract expires on July 1.
The 27-year-old has not been offered a new deal with Colchester and is now looking to get his career back on track elsewhere.
Vincent said: “It’s come to a bit of a natural end - the club never spoke to me about staying.
“In my mind, it’s never been an option and I think it’s the right time to move on.
“I have nothing against Colchester; the people there are great and I really hope that they do well.
“In a different situation, I’d still be there next season and in seasons to come.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Colchester and the staff and fans have been great for me.
“The manager has a tough job to do.
“He has made his choices which he has to do and that’s fine with me.
“I’ve got no bitter feelings towards him or anyone at Colchester.
“I hope that I can rediscover some sort of form somewhere else and get my career back on track.
“I think I’m rebuilding my career again and if it’s the right club for me and the right opportunity, then I’ll take it.
“I know that I have to prove people wrong.”

A pity we shall miss these two players, but let's see what Ladapo can do.

Wish Ashley all the best, his play here has never been used to his natural game, good balls in front of him on the ground to run onto! People just whacked it forward expecting him to race after it.....such a shame all that pace never truly used correctly.

I think Vincent is one of the best players we've had in recent seasons. Gutted he went, shame as could have played up front too
