9:06am Monday 18th June 2012 in npower League One Table & Results By Jonathan Waldron
Repeat - Ian Henderson scored twice in the U's 4-2 win at Preston North End at the start of last season. They will travel to Deepdale again for the opening game of the 2012-13 season.
Colchester United will travel to play Preston North End on the opening day of the League One season, after the fixtures for the 2012-13 campaign were released this morning.
The U's will go to Deepdale, where they won 4-2 at the start of last season, on August 18.
Two goals from Ian Henderson and strikes from Anthony Wordsworth and Kayode Odejayi sealed a memorable victory for Colchester against the Lilywhites, who they registered a double against last season.
John Ward's men will then host relegated Portsmouth on August 21, in their first home match of the season.
And that will be followed up with a home game against Sheffield United, who lost in the play-off final against Huddersfield Town last month, on August 25.
The U's travel to play Brentford on Boxing Day and will travel to Crawley Town on New Year's Day.

In my mind sheffield united will win the league. Portsmouth will be indifferent but a big name with good players, and Preston will finish top 5 for sure. I fancy Preston to get promotion. They have bought in 10 players, all of league one quality, including young club captains.
