  • ""O’Toole has not featured for the U’s first team since mid-January". In fact, he came on in the last few minutes of the match against Wednesday but maybe Jonathan Waldron didn't notice.
Anyway, let's hope for another brace or a hat-trick from Ladapo, maybe that will qualify him for a couple of games on the first team.
And of course let's hope that John-Joe is on for a good spell during to-night's game and that he does well and we win that cup again."

Richard Hall wants to lead Colchester United to Essex Senior Cup success tonight.

Hall will take charge of the U’s side that will take on Ryman League premier division outfit Canvey Island in this season’s final, at Thurrock FC (7.45pm kick-off).

Colchester won the competition for the first time in 2010, when a late Freddie Ladapo brace helped them see off AFC Hornchurch.

And U’s development coach Hall would like nothing more but to bring a piece of silverware back to the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Hall said: “We want to win, whether it’s the FA Cup or the Essex Senior Cup.

“We’ll approach the game like we have every other this season and every game brings with it a different challenge.

“I’m sure that Canvey Island will give us a tough game.

“But if we approach it the right way, I’m sure we can perform well.”

Hall said he will take a mixture of senior and younger players to tonight’s game.

Midfielder John-Joe O’Toole is expected to play a part in the match, having recovered from a hamstring injury.

O’Toole has not featured for the U’s first team since mid-January.
