Colchester United have been boosted by the news that Andrew Bond's knee injury is not as bad as first feared.

The midfielder limped out of the U's 2-1 friendly win at non-league Brentwood Town, last Saturday.

However, Bond has been assessed today and could return to training tomorrow.

U's boss John Ward said: "We're very happy that Andy's injury is not serious and that he can return to training."

Right-back Brian Wilson trained today after missing the U's friendlies against Brentwood and Maldon and Tiptree with a minor groin injury.
