Gavin Massey has returned to Championship club Watford following his loan spell at Colchester United.
The 19-year old returned to Vicarage Road prior to the U's 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday.
Massey is hoping to play some part in the Hornets' remaining fixtures in the Championship this season.
Colchester manager John Ward added: “I got a phone call from Sean Dyche and Watford asked if they could recall him and we’ve let him go back a game early.
“I hope he gets an opportunity there, because that’s what he wants to do.”
