U's hot-shot Mooney is in the shop window

Colchester United hot-shot David Mooney has admitted he is in the shop window this season.

The skilful Irishman has made a big impact since joining the U’s on a six-month loan from npower Championship side Reading last month.

Mooney, 25, has hit three goals in four starts for John Ward’s team since arriving at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The striker has already stated that he would be willing to consider a longer-term move to Colchester, if the opportunity arose.

And Mooney has conceded that his future could lie away from the Madejski Stadium.

He said: “I’m really enjoying my football here.

“All I wanted to do was come here and show people what I can do.

“I’m open to offers - I think Reading have explained that they don’t want me.

“I’m in the shop window playing here.

“All I can do is to keep playing and we want to push on up the league.”

David Mooney is the striker we have been looking for a while now, he can score goals on the floor, in the air and links up well with others!
Last two years excluding Lisbie we had no killer striker, thankfully they have been moved on or are out soon, so we must sell the losers and buy this winner and we'll have a bright future!

The sooner the better, before someone else snaps him up!

If we get promoted, chances are he will stay - if we pay him Championship wages. If we don't, then he will surely join a club that is already in the Championship - or better.
But I am getting a bit ahead of myself, so let's just say well done David Mooney, score plenty more goals, so that in each game we go into extra time with a 2 or 3 goal lead, and make sure of the win. Then we'll start moving up the table.
Up the U's.

Please, please U's directors - let's knock out a deal to get Mr Mooney to stay! There is no doubt he is special and definitely brings a strong option to our attacking line up, able to score and create opportunities. Bit disappointed that this did not happen, but time will tell. But let us just hope that another team doesn't come in for him before then. Up the U's!

Very good player but lacks staminia and runs out of steam and drops off in second half, reason not a championship footballer. Thats the reason why Charlton did not try ro sign him up again this season and also does not come up to Reading's standards.Obtained from a very well known sorce. I tend to agree after watching him in two games, but still better than Platt.
