All quiet on the Weston Homes front on transfer deadline day

Colchester United do not expect to do any business before the transfer window slams shut at 6pm today.

U’s boss John Ward is happy with his current squad, although he may be tempted by the option of signing players on a temporary basis when the loan market reopens next week.

Colchester have not received any offers for any of their prize assets, who include left-back Marc Tierney - out of contract at the end of the season - and goalkeeper Ben Williams.

And they are confident of keeping their squad together, as they strive to maintain their unbeaten start to the npower League One season.

Ward told the Gazette: “There’s nothing happening, as we speak.

“We have made no enquiries and we have had no enquiries.

“As far as we’re concerned, it’s all quiet."

Why am I not surpised... after Friday nights game surely we need a strong defensive midfielder! Or a bunch of players that want results and not just full asleep in the 2nd half.

I am worried for the next window in January Tierney wants away because he has not signed a new contract (for what they're worth these days anyway) Ben Williams will go to be with Lambert again that's for sure.
As Surb said we need a holding mid-fielder who is Captain and fights our corner and holds no prisoners! we lack that type of player and we needed him on Friday to wake them all up and if necessary give them a kick up the behind. Magnus is the main one who needs a rocket he switches off as he did Friday when he missed his kick and it led to the equalizer!
