Colchester beat Carlisle

Kayode Odejayi scored a late winner as Colchester United came from behind to beat Carlisle United 2-1.

Odejayi thumped home from fellow substitute Ian Henderson's assist in the second minute of stoppage-time to help the U's turn things around, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Ian Harte headed Carlisle ahead midway through the first half from Graham Kavanagh's corner.

But Clive Platt headed in John-Joe O'Toole's cross at the far post to equalise for Colchester just after the hour.

And Odejayi completed the comeback in stoppage-time to give the U's a precious three points, in Coca-Cola League One.

The first half wasn't all that, with alot of hit the ball up in the air and hopefully it will go to someone... and it didn't. Stevie G had his chance today to make another difference, but he didn't unfortunatly and was boo'ed off the pitch when he was subbed off which I feel the boo's wasn't needed. But well done for Aidy for putting on Odejayi a player who I rate highly he played a superb game and gave the fans alot of hope. Well done Odejayi too. I felt that the Booing at half time was harsh and uncalled for, and after hearing that the Fans of West Stand were saying "sort it out Aidy" that was very harsh and disrespectful. I was situated in the south stand, and was unable to hear such chants. Anyway back to the game, again I feel Wordsworth was our weakest link in the team, with the lack of defensive play and skills. And I also agree with the Man of the Match well done Platt. Overall the game wasn't good the first half, but half time team talk from Aidy seemed to have worked for the second half. Up the U's

Just got back after another poor performance, but we showed some character to get the three points!
I did type out some abuse about Wordsworth being such a waste of space but I just can't be bothered anymore so I am off to pour a drink and wait for the Southend game next Monday. Entertainment not :-(

Don't know why people knock wordsworth all the time I for one rate him but opinions differ obviously. Prutton did absolutely nothing, apart from the goal platt was poor, a target man who wins about 5% of headers?. The subs transformed the game and lifted the whole team, congratulations to Aidy for that and another win. Up the U's

First half was very poor. Sloppy passing and no shape to the game.
Ref didn't help in the second half with poor decisions and how many times did that lino put his flag up late! Odejayi definitely different class to the rest tonight. Had to conujur up at least three shooting oppurtunities alone because no one else was in the box!
Having said that, they all dug in deep in the last ten minutes which shows great character.
Felt sorry for the Carlisle supporters on there long trek home though.
Up the U's :)

No comment on this game. Thought I was watching tennis instead of football.

would of been nice if they laid on strawberries & cream at half time and playing cliffy, we are going on a summer holiday. but it wasnt tennis, it was raw leaguue one football on a mucky old pitch like the old days.
we got the win, just over half way and we are 4th.
Keep the faith fellow Col U fans, Come on Col U.
But some further training is required on passing, awareness & movement.
And get rid on dopey woody, is there sometime in his contract that he has to be picked, poor Marc T has to work so much more because of him. Marc T was never that poor when woody was not playing last season.

Seems Posh soon got rid of ex manager Mark Cooper . By all accounts he changed the team to playing big bang boot upfield football which most of the players were upset with after Darren Fergies exit. The supporters forum done a poll and it was unanimous that the majority hated it. Jim Gannon by all accounts likes his teams to play attacking passing football so the change they got.

The thing i dont understand about the team is,
If the manager sets the tatics to the long ball system, then why is he constantly shouting at them and throwing his water bottle when they boot the ball up field, are they not booting the ball high enough in the air or is it they are not playing the tatics that were set out from the start. cause when they pass the ball along the ground he praises them as they run pass by clapping.

We can be brilliant when we do throw some passes together. I think we have the players and a decent manager but must admit i would like to see a bit more acurate passing. Wordsworth is the worst culprit. He will go past someone then delivers a careless sloppy pass to the opposition.. I dont think there is enough understanding between certain players with each other where they are going to play the ball to.

With these tactics we are pulling off wins. So whats the problem?

Pulling off lucky wins im afraid to say. Come of it Tuesdays first half was awful. You will never get people coming to watch trash like that not unless your like me a hardened supporter. You said on a comment above that the ball was hit in the air more than on the ground. Thats the problem we must get the ball down and pass it around .

To be honest, we won't get more supporters no matter if we are playing SEXY football, people in Colchester will only go to the big games. As the Tuesday game showed, only 3,000 odd fans are actually loyal supporters, and thats shameful. You watch the fans fly in when we get promoted, and they will be saying that they have been going for years.

Soright Steve86, i hate when that happens, you go through the highs and lows and when things are on the up, by magic they turn up.
But at the same time its difficult as when we get a big crowd the team plays pants, so why should they turn up and spend hard earned cash on that.
The club needs to look at reducing prices, so less cost = more people = ££££ with more people selling of programmes/merchandi
se/food/drink/poxy 50:50 tickets that i never win on will be sold it.
Reduce greed = Increased support.
Roll On Monday,Come On Col U.

I agree with both Steve and No.1 - Look at the year we got promoted we had sell outs at Layer Road with 1000's that couldnt get tickets... I really hope we get alot of col u fans on monday against southend, but I can't see it happening. Mainly on the grounds of it being aired on sky sports so col utd supporters may stay at home, but the same 3000 odd that usually go will go on monday and sky plus it... and make sure we make ourselves heard for the viewers...
