Colchester United chairman Robbie Cowling has remained cool on speculation linking former West Ham United chief executive Scott Duxbury with the club

Colchester United chairman Robbie Cowling has played down speculation linking Scott Duxbury with the club.

Duxbury resigned as West Ham United’s chief executive last week, citing the need to pursue other opportunities.

He has since been linked with the same vacant position at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

The U’s are on the lookout for a new chief executive, following the resignation of Steve Bradshaw in December.

However, Colchester supremo Cowling insisted there is no appointment imminent.

He told the Gazette: “I know Scott Duxbury very well but there’s nothing to say."

It got pointed out to me, that he allegedly earnt a fortune, spends like theres no tomorrow and trained as a laywer but never won his previous club any cases. I hope cowling thinks bussiness and not friendship. But he does look like a real smashing chap!.

No thank you, just look at the mess the Hammers are in! why did he leave the new set up??? I am getting really worried about some club issues! from building a training ground miles away in Tiptree to no action being taken on reducing prices or deals for getting more fans in the ground.....we are just ticking along going no where fast.....!

Has that not been the issue at the club for many years, we have always been quite happy just ticking along and being a nice little club. As I said before some people are in football for all the wrong reasons.
