Colchester United continued their January transfer window business in earnest this afternoon after allowing Lewis Kinsella and Tommy O'Sullivan to move out on loan.

Left-back Kinsella has left the U's to join Aldershot Town for a month, while midfielder O'Sullivan has linked up with fellow National League side Torquay United for the remainder of the campaign.

Both players have struggled to establish themselves in Colchester's first team, this season.

Kinsella has managed just four starts for the U's in League Two in the current campaign while former Cardiff City youngster O'Sullivan has made ony four appearances in all competitions.

Kinsella and O'Sullivan join Craig Slater in leaving the League Two club, after the Scottish midfielder yesterday joined Dundee United on loan for the rest of the season.

Colchester head coach John McGreal said: “With us falling out of the FA Cup, we’ve got to try and generate a bit of money.

“Craig has been in and around the subs bench but with the way the team have been performing of late, especially in the midfield area, he’s only had little bits here and there and he needs to play football.

“It was best for both parties I think – for Craig to go and try and get football and for us to release a bit of money for us to delve into the market.

“We hope he goes there and does particularly well and gets games and goals."
