Brandon Comley has had plenty of experience of playing in League Two.

So the Colchester United loanee is better qualified than most to discuss the promotion virtues of his current team, as they strive to move up the division.

Comley moved away from his parent club Queens Park Rangers to have loan spells for both Carlisle United and Grimsby Town, prior to joining the U’s on a similar temporary basis in August.

Today, the 21-year-old is set to face the Cumbrians, where he made 13 appearances over a six-month period on loan in the 2015-16 season.

And as he prepares to take on his former club, loanee Comley says the U’s squad is feeling confident after two successive wins.

Comley said: “We all feel like we can push on and do good things in this league.

“If we keep going and keep pushing forward with that momentum, I think we can get into those play-offs.

“I knew some of the boys before I came here like Cole (Kpekawa) and Kane (Vincent-Young) and a few of the others and they told me good things about the club.

“I knew that they wanted to play football and I think we can be a force.

“The way we go about things is high standard and it’s all set to achieve good things in this league.

“The divisions are constantly changing and you’re playing against different teams with sides coming up and going down.

“You have to be ready to adapt against different teams all of the time.

“But knowing the league and knowing what you need to get out of it can definitely help.”

Comley could be in line for a recall to Colchester’s starting line-up today, with Doug Loft struggling with a hamstring injury.

After a succession of substitute appearances, the young midfielder is naturally itching to play, having already started four games for the U’s.

Comley said: “I feel comfortable here and feel like I’ve slotted in with the other loan boys.

“I just want to play every week and as soon as you go out on that pitch, I go out with a smile on my face and try and do well.

“It’s the same with the other boys – everyone wants to go out there and do well and that’s infectious.

“At some other clubs, you get the majority who want to do well but some that don’t but here, everyone is positive and fighting for their places.”

Comley has made three senior appearances for his parent club QPR, having progressed through the youth ranks at Loftus Road.

But the youngster insists his focus is firmly on the U’s during his loan spell, which is scheduled to run until next January.

Comley added: “QPR have been to a few of the games and they’re happy with what I’ve done so far.

“But that will work itself out and right now, my main focus is on Colchester and doing well for them.

“Anything like that, I’m sure it will fall into place.

“But the way it’s going so far, I can’t see my game doing anything but develop at Colchester.”
