EOIN McKeown hit the winner as Colchester United’s under-23s notched a 1-0 victory at Huddersfield Town.
The midfielder struck the only goal in this afternoon’s Professional Development League contest at PPG Canalside.
He fired home with a powerful, angled drive in the first half of the contest.
Isaac Marriott, Dom Tear and Olly Dyson all went close for the Terriers.
However, Colchester kept a clean sheet and it continued their bright start to the season, having only lost once - last Monday’s 5-2 defeat by Nottingham Forest.
McKeown also scored in the Forest game.
Wayne Brown's young U’s got their campaign off to a winning start after beating Birmingham City 2-1. They have also drawn with both Barnsley and Leeds United, in addition to beating Hull City 2-0.
Huddersfield, in contrast, are yet to taste victory this season.
They have now lost four of their six matches, drawing the other two.
Colchester’s next Professional Development League is at home to Millwall’s under-23s, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Monday.
Kick-off will be at 7pm.
It is the first of three straight home games, with matches coming up against Swansea City on Friday, September 29 and Cardiff City on Monday, October 9.
The match against Swansea is in Premier League Cup, while the Cardiff clash is another Professional Development League contest.
