Attacking midfielder Brandon Hanlan has joined Colchester United on loan on what is turning out to be a busy transfer deadline day for the U’s.

Hanlan has come in from Charlton Athletic to bolster head coach John McGreal’s midfield options.

It is not the first loan spell for the 20-year-old, who spent time at Vanarama National League side Bromley last year, when he scored four goals in eight appearances.

He has also made nine appearances for Charlton in the league, all of which have been off the bench, and has played 16 times for the Addicks in total.

Hanlan has joined Colchester in an initial loan deal until the middle of January.
