Colchester United under-23s progressed to the Premier League Cup second round tonight after beating Hull City 2-1.
Goals from Femi Akinwande and Josh Pollard saw the U's come from behind and win in their final Group C match, to secure qualification from the group stages.
They finished second above Manchester City and Derby County, with Hull finishing as group winners on goal difference.
Wayne Brown's side fell behind to Ben Hinchliffe's first-half goal but Colchester equalised two minutes later when Akinwande converted Ryan Clampin's cross.
And Pollard grabbed the U's winner on the hour mark when he headed home from a corner, to seal the U's progress to the knockout stages.
