Colchester United manager Kevin Keen has been nominated for the League One Manager of the Month award for March.

The U's boss has been shortlisted for the accolade, along with Barnsley's Paul Heckingbottom, Rochdale boss Keith Hill and Jon Whitney of Walsall.

Keen secured his first win as Colchester manager at the beginning of March when he led them to a 2-1 triumph at play-off chasing Bradford City.

The U's finished the month with a fine 1-0 victory at Coventry City, helping them register back to back victories following a 4-1 triumph over Doncaster Rovers on Good Friday.

Colchester also pushed league leaders Wigan Athletic all the way with a 3-3 draw and were leading at promotion-chasing Walsall until the 89th minute, when the hosts came back to win.

The winner of the award will be announced on Friday.

Colchester are now ten points from safety with six games remaining, following last night's results.

Fleetwood Town beat Peterborough United 2-0, while Oldham Athletic claimed a vital victory by the same scoreline at home to Swindon Town.

Colchester travel to play fellow strugglers Blackpool, on Saturday.
