Colchester United are yet to receive any bids for their star midfielder George Moncur.

Speculation has linked a host of clubs with the U’s leading goalscorer, who scored their opener in their FA Cup triumph over Charlton Athletic last weekend.

Championship side MK Dons, along with Colchester’s League One rivals Sheffield United, are the latest sides to be rumoured to be interested in signing Moncur, who has scored ten goals from midfield this season.

Nottingham Forest have also been linked with the former West Ham United youngster, who is under contract at the Weston Homes Community Stadium until the summer of 2017.

However, Colchester manager Kevin Keen told the Daily Gazette that they have not received any firm interest.

He said: “There’s rumours and speculation but we haven’t had any firm bids for George.

“We have several players at the club who are capable of playing at a higher level and he’s one of them.

“It’s no wonder his name has been mentioned but I want them to stay here at Colchester.”

Moncur has shone since joining Colchester in August 2014 from West Ham, initially on loan.

The 22-year-old has made a total of 75 appearances for the U’s, scoring 19 goals.

Moncur has recently been playing in a left-sided berth for Colchester, having played the majority of his career at the club in a central attacking midfield role.
