Colchester United's under-21 side fell at a 3-1 defeat at Watford this afternoon.
Kieran Bailey scored the U's consolation but it was not enough for them to salvage anything from the Professional Development League Two fixture.
Alex Jakubiak gave Watford the lead before Victor Ibarbo made it 2-0, just before the half hour.
Bailey pulled a goal back for Colchester shortly after the break but Ibarbo scored his second of the game just before the hour, as the U's were beaten.
