Colchester United manager Tony Humes says he will be keeping his fingers crossed for a home tie when the FA Cup second-round draw is made tonight.

The U’s name is in the hat following their emphatic 6-2 triumph at non-league outfit Wealdstone.

Four goals from Macauley Bonne and further strikes from George Moncur and Marvin Sordell sealed Colchester’s progress in the competition.

The draw takes place live on BBC2 at 7pm tonight and Humes would like a tie at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, where his side have been particularly strong this season.

Humes said: “I think you just look for a home tie.

“That’s what you hope for and we’ll see what happens.

“Hopefully, it’ll be something that is achievable to get through into the third round.”

Colchester are ball number 40 in the draw for the second round, with ties to be played on the weekend of December 5.
