Tony Humes says a strong bond between his Colchester United players is helping to drive their winning run.

The U’s boss feels his confident team are striving to get better and better, as they head into tonight’s game against Bradford City in search of a fourth successive win.

Colchester have taken ten points from a possible 12 to move up to tenth in League One and Humes says his side are working hard for each other.

Humes said: “Confidence is a huge thing and the team bond and team spirit is fantastic.

“They want to come into work every day and they want to get better.

“I can’t compliment them enough – it’s about the players and they’re performing at the minute.

“There’s more quality there now and more belief that they know they’re playing well.

“We’re trying to make them better but it’s always the team that goes out there to try and get results and that’s the biggest thing.

“They’re working for each other to get better and that’s all we can continue to do.”

Humes says he will assess the condition of his players before deciding on his starting line-up for the Bradford clash.

“The players put a huge shift in (at Swindon) and it was a tough game, certainly in the second half,” said Humes.

“There were a few who were a bit tired at the end, both mentally and physically.

“There will always be a consideration about changing for Tuesday but we’ll see how everybody is.

“The great thing is that they all want to play.

“We haven’t had to change the team too much over recent weeks, apart from once or twice.

“We have players who have played and players who are ready to step in.

“We’ve looked at the fact that we have two games in four days and the fixtures and what is best for each game.”
