Colchester United will check on the fitness of Kane Vincent-Young today after the defender missed their 2-1 win at Swindon Town.

The 19-year-old full-back missed out on the victory at the County Ground with an ankle Achilles injury which has been troubling him for the last fortnight.

Tosin Olufemi stepped in to replace Vincent-Young at right-back and U's boss Tony Humes said he did not want to risk the former Spurs youngster making the injury any worse.

Humes said: “He’s got a slight ankle Achilles injury and it wasn’t worth him coming to sit on the bus for six hours and making it worse.

“It’s something he’s had for a couple of weeks and it’s gradually got worse.

“Hopefully it’s nothing major but it’s something that has ruled him out.

“He could feel it last Saturday but got through the 90 minutes without any problems, which was great for us.

“But the first time he trained was on Thursday after that and he just got a bit of reaction to it – it was a no go for him.

“Hopefully he’ll be a close thought for Tuesday."
