Olly Lee will be given the chance to earn a permanent move to Colchester United, according to boss Tony Humes.
The 24-year-old midfielder is a free agent after being released by Championship side Birmingham City at the end of last season and featured in the first half of the U’s 8-0 pre-season friendly win at Heybridge Swifts, on Saturday.
Lee, the son of former Newcastle United and England midfielder Rob Lee and older brother of former Colchester loanee Elliot Lee, has been training with the U’s since they returned for pre-season earlier this month.
