Tony Humes insists striker Dan Holman still has a future at Colchester United.

The 24-year-old forward is yet to feature for the U’s since Humes was appointed as manager, last September.

Holman has made just five appearances in total for Colchester since joining them from Conference Premier side Braintree Town last season.

He had loan spells away from the Weston Homes Community Stadium at Wrexham, Aldershot Town and Dover Athletic.

But U’s boss Humes said: “Dan Holman is part of the squad.

“He will come back here for pre-season and we’ll see where we are then.

“If we bring someone else in in that area this summer, then that will determine things a bit more.

“But you can never say never.

First and foremost, Dan was injured while he was at Dover and he has to get himself fit.

“He had a stop-start season, even when he was out on loan because of injuries.

“Hopefully he’ll report back fully fit and start afresh.”

Colchester will be looking to boost their attacking options, this summer.

Freddie Sears moved to Ipswich Town last January and both Jabo Ibehre and Sanchez Watt left the U’s, earlier this month.

And fellow attackers Jacob Murphy, Rhys Healey and Jack Marriott have departed following the completion of their respective loan spells at the U’s.
