Macauley Bonne staked a claim for a first-team recall after scoring twice in Colchester United under-21s 2-0 win over Millwall.
Bonne gave the U's the lead eight minutes before the break in the Professional Development League Two clash at Florence Park when he nodded in, after Dion Sembie-Ferris's curling shot had been parried.
And Bonne scored his and the U's second just before half-time when he capitalised on a defensive mix-up to score.
There were no further goals in the second half, as John McGreal's side wrapped up victory in their penultimate league game of the season.
