With Colchester United dropping back into the bottom three in the League One table, defender Alex Wynter says they can’t afford to play for anything other than maximum points hauls now.

The U’s 2-0 defeat at Doncaster Rovers on Saturday combined with results elsewhere saw them return to the relegation zone that they had lifted themselves clear of when beating Bristol City the week before.

So they now head into tomorrow’s home game against Notts County looking to get back on track.

Like Colchester, Notts County are in a battle to avoid the drop and Wynter said, with 13 games left to play, three points and nothing else must be their target.

The 21-year-old said: “The teams we’ve played recently have been towards the top, but I don’t think there’s been too much of a gap between us and them.

“Every team has their own strengths and weaknesses so we just have to make sure we go into every game believing we can get three points.

“Every game is important now.

“We can’t put any pressure on ourselves but we have to go into every game wanting to win.

“We can’t go into games looking just for a point with a draw, every game has to be three points that we’re looking for."
