Colchester United have begun their hunt for Freddie Sears’ replacement.

The U’s are adjusting to life without their leading goalscorer, after he left to join their East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town for an undisclosed fee.

On-loan Cardiff City striker Rhys Healey is set to take Sears’ place in the starting line-up for their home game with Walsall tomorrow.

And U’s boss Tony Humes also has the likes of Dan Holman and Macauley Bonne at his disposal.

Jabo Ibehre is also back at the club following his loan spell at Oldham Athletic, although he is currently sidelined through injury.

However, U’s boss Tony Humes says they want to bolster their forward options, following Sears’ departure this afternoon.

Humes said: “We always have lists of players we are interested in.

“As soon as it became obvious that Freddie would be on his way, we began the process of replacing him.

“We have already made enquiries into the availability of a number of players and we will continue to do that.”
