Kaspars Gorkss is set to put pen to paper on a new short-term deal with Colchester United today.

The Latvia international is expected to stay with the U’s for the next few weeks, as he continues to mull over his options.

Gorkss, who joined Colchester as a free agent last month, played the final game of his previous short-term deal at Cardiff City last Friday.

The 33-year-old is still keen to play at a higher level, having played much of his football in the Championship for the likes of Reading and QPR.

However, Gorkss is poised to agree a longer stay at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

And the experienced defender is set to be available to play for the U’s at Peterborough United tomorrow.
