COLCHESTER United loanee Elliott Hewitt has been recalled by parent club Ipswich Town.

The right-back played his last game for the club in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Port Vale.

U’s boss Tony Humes had been keen to keep the 20-year-old at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

However, Ipswich have now recalled him and the Welsh under-21 international may now feature in tomorrow’s Championship match at home to Wolves.

“We were really pleased with Elliott over the past month and would have liked to keep him longer,” said Humes.

“(Ipswich boss) Mick (McCarthy) has taken Elliott back with the month’s loan done but we’ll certainly be keeping an eye on his progress.”
