Colchester United's pursuit of Cardiff City striker Rhys Healey has been put on hold following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's departure from the Championship club.
The U’s wanted to sign the young forward to boost their attacking options, ahead of their clash with Bradford City this weekend.
Freddie Sears has been in impressive form and has scored in three of Colchester’s last four matches.
But with Jabo Ibehre still sidelined with a knee injury, U’s boss Tony Humes is keen to bolster his squad’s firepower.
However, they have to put the potential loan move on the backburner, after Solskjaer left his role as Cardiff boss.
Healey, 20, has made one senior appearance for Cardiff since joining them from Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay in January, 2013.
The Manchester-born youngster appeared as a substitute in the Bluebirds’ 2-1 home defeat against Chelsea, on the final day of last season.
Healey, who scored 15 goals at under-21 level last season, scored twice in Cardiff’s development side’s 2-1 win over rivals Swansea City, on Monday.
