Colchester United are running the rule over Ipswich Town youngster Amir Berkane.
The Colchester-born teenager has been training with the U’s under-18 squad, over recent weeks.
Berkane, a midfielder with an eye for goal, has been with Town’s academy for eight years.
But the 18-year-old has been told he will not be offered a professional contract by the Championship club, ahead of his two-year scholarship ending.
