Clinton Morrison has his swagger back - after admitting last season was the worst of his long career.

The charismatic striker experienced a frustrating first campaign with Colchester United, scoring just twice as the club fought a League One relegation battle.

It was Morrison’s lowest goal haul in his 16 years as a professional and the former Republic of Ireland international spent much of the season on the bench.

But the 34-year-old is now determined to make up for lost time and establish himself as a regular in Joe Dunne’s U’s starting line-up, next season.

Morrison said: “Last season was the worst year of my career.

“I’ve never only scored two goals in a full season.

“But I’ve got my confidence back now and I have a bit of a swagger about me again.

“It’s still early days in pre-season but I’ve got my hunger back - I’m determined to do well and prove a point."

This could be very good news indeed. Clinton was hugely disappointing last season. I look forward to seeing him as a pain in the backside of opposing defenders, rather than painful-to-watch from the stands, in the new season! Time will tell........
