Colchester United have bolstered their squad with the signing of speedy winger George Porter on loan from Championship side Burnley.

The 20-year-old has joined the U's from Clarets, until the end of the season.

Porter started his career at Leyton Orient and made 39 appearances for them, before signing for Burnley in July.

He will travel with the Colchester squad to their game at Crawley Town tomorrow.

I just hope Joe is not undoing his own shoe laces. I know its early days as yet, but I would like to see a couple of more experienced type players signed as well in the transfer window. The lads signed up so far are all young, with pace and most likely show very good potential for the future. The trouble right now is that we are in a deep relegation battle, and im not sure this is the right answer. It's obvious J.D. knows the sort of players he wants for the future which will be fast attacking players with good engines that can get back quick to defend. Let's be wishing Joe and all the lads at the club all the best in 2013.

Is George Porter the 9th or 10th loan signing in the last 3 months? I'm losing track.

Might help if The Gazette published a re-cap on the current squad.

Bender, Hamilton, Ramm, Phillips and O'Toole out on loan.

Have we released two players today?

Some of the transactions hit Wiki before the press - are they wired?

it seems strange that we seem to be bringing in quick forward players, and no defenders, you could drive a bus down the middle of our defence, and we need fullbacks to learn to defend.Centre backs cover full backs, full backs cover centre halves, our full backs to busy going forward, and get caught out too easily.

Another strange decision to me. We need old heads in to help keep us up. Now isnt the time for upcoming youngsters. The next month will make or break Dunne. I always said despite the results I was prepared to give him to the end of the transfer window where he can build his own team but Im not impressed so far.

Agreed, we dunno how good or bad this lad is, so lets give him our full backing until proved otherwise.

We have always looked at our best when we have wide men, as do most teams. The players in the team so far haven't done enough to earn the place (exception to the young lads but in their first season aren't going to be able to cope playing every game).
Also we have to be realistic how many clubs are going to want to send their players to us in our current state, and how many players are going to want to come knowing the feeling in dressing room.

Back in the day we always played with wide men that had pace and could cross a good ball, lets get back to basics.
