Former Colchester United manager John Ward has been heavily linked with the director of football post at League Two club Plymouth Argyle.

Ward, who was dismissed as U's boss in September after more than two years in the hot seat at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, is said to be in discussions to take over in the role at Home Park.

Ward has worked in the south-west before, having managed both Bristol City and Bristol Rovers during his managerial career.

Good luck to John Ward, who is a decent man, even if he failed here. Perhaps he'll be able to set Joe Dunne up with a new job, he may be looking for one before long.
