New Colchester United signing Josh Thompson could make his debut at Crewe Alexandra this afternoon.
The six foot four inch defender has joined the U's on a month's loan from League One rivals Portsmouth.
The 21-year-old centre-back joined Pompey in the summer after leaving Scottish giants Celtic.
U's boss Joe Dunne was keen to increase competition for places in his squad and also signed goalkeeper John Sullivan yesterday.
