Olympic sailor Saskia Clark topped off a great year by scooping the Active Essex Sports Personality Award.
Sporting achievement across Essex was celebrated at a glittering ceremony at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, the home of Colchester United, on Wednesday night.
West Mersea sailor Saskia Clark, who couldn’t be at the event, added the accolade to her Sport Colchester 2015 Sport Personality Premier Award she won last month.
The 2012 Olympic silver medallist in the women’s 470, along with helm Hannah Mills, has just been elevated to class world number one in the ISAF rankings.
Clark and Mills have already been selected for the GB team for the Rio Olympics next year, as well as taking 470 World Championship silver and gold in the World Cup final in Abu Dhabi.
Colchester Rugby Club picked up the Community Club of the Year award, to add to their trio of awards at the Sport Colchester 2015 Sport Personality Awards last month.
Colchester swimmer Laura Stephens won the Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
Powerlifter Daniel McGauley, from Colchester, won the Disabled Sports Personality of the Year award.
