Freddie Sears is hoping his goalscoring return to Colchester United's starting line-up has given manager Joe Dunne a selection poser.

Sears capped his first start under new U's boss Dunne with a fine goal in their 2-1 defeat at Northampton Town in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Sears said: "Hopefully, I've given the manager something to think about with my performance and my goal."

Hopefully Sears, you have a bright future. I'm just hoping he plays you up front in a 442.
