U's boss Dunne delighted with performance

Delighted Colchester United manager Joe Dunne hailed his players' efforts after their claimed a fine 1-0 win at Swindon Town.

Michael Rose's free-kick proved to be the winner at the County Ground, as the U's claimed back-to-back wins under their new boss.

Dunne said: "We've asked them to be brave again and I said to them before the game that we needed to get something from it to see how far we could take it.

"It was very important that we kept trying to do the right things.

"We tried to play out from the back and the attitude was spot on.

"The players gave their all and that was the reward we got.

"It's going to take time because there will be days when it doesn't work.

"The pace of the game was good for us and while what we did on the ball was good, what pleased me the most was what we did off the ball.

"We dealt with Swindon's really good players very well."

Fantastic result and one which has hopefully put rent-a-gob Di Canio in his place. Reading some of the Swindon fans reactions, a fair bit of praise for our boys for looking fitter than Swindon, pressing more and looking the better team. Amazing what a change of manager can do and I hope this carries on into the next match. Under Ward I'd have put us down to have earned 1 point from our last 2 games and we have taken all 6. Well done U's and lets get another 3 points on Saturday. Look forward not back.

It's like buses you wait for months for a win then two come at same time, well done players well done rose and well done dunne. Good to see Morrison come on and do a hold up job. Not many teams will go there and win.
Up the u's

Great result, although having seen the boys on saturday I half expected it!
The football we are playing is top draw and the three loan players have lifted the club to another level, keep taking it day by day train hard and we'll be in the top six at christmas. Up the U's!

Saw so much of the old Phil Parkinson era last night. Different free kick routines, closing down players, chasing after balls, long balls acrossfield to the wide players. So much better than the last three managers put together. With out doubt the most improved player for me, last two games is Woody. Ive blogged it so many times, put him in the right team with the right tactics and you have a star. He needs pushing, and if he continues work hard he has a fantastic future ahead of him. I cant wait for Saturday its down South, so lucky me.

Totally agree!
If we were still under Ward, I would of expected a lose. But I was confident before yesterdays game because of Saturday. And once again the procession and attacking mentality was continued great work JD and Co.

Up the U's!

Hmmmm? Cheap option! Lacking imagination by RC! To closely aligned to JW! Club going down hill fast! Won't go again! Wish I had not bought my season ticket! Etc etc etc ...... I shall say no more. Well done to date Joe & Mark and I hope the cynics stay with you when (inevitably) at some point you will have a bad result. Up the U's.

Like what Im seeing so far. Lets not talk top 6 yet though please. Mark Kinsella coming in has obviously made the difference. Ex Premiership player and full International. Would have learnt lots from top managers. Nice to have the feel good factor back at the club. I hope we take Northampton seriously. Ive heard the under 21 game on Monday was postponed so the management team can make wholesale changes ithe JPT. Put our best team out. Lets go to Wembley!

I'm on about everyone on here criticising the appointment of Joe. Cheap option, no imagination by RW, better people out there etc. All of a sudden the critics think its brilliant. Somewhat hypocritical I think.

He has only won two games! There are plenty of better managers out there no doubt and he was the cheap option BUT he has my support. I wanted Ward out and he has gone so will support Dunne. Cant say someone is brilliant after two games.
