Colchester United manager John Ward will use tonight’s pre-season friendly at Chelmsford City as another opportunity to run the rule over his squad.
Ten of the U’s players tasted a full 90 minutes of action in the 1-0 win at Cambridge United last night.
And the likes of John White, Matt Heath and Simon Hackney are all expected to feature against the Clarets at Melbourne Park (kick-off 7.30pm).
Ward told the Gazette: “We will be taking a few of the younger players with us as substitutes.
“But I will be looking to most of the players, as long as they’re fit and able, to put 90 minutes of work in.”
Steven Gillespie, who has been carrying a slight ankle injury and Magnus Okuonghae are unlikely to figure tonight.
However, they are both expected to play a part in Colchester’s trip to play npower League Two side Aldershot on Saturday, in another pre-season friendly.
