Kevin Lisbie scored a late winner as Colchester United ended their season with a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient this afternoon.

Lisbie scored from the spot in the opening minute of stoppage-time after Luke Ashworth handled Kem Izzet's shot on the line to give the U's all three points, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

There was little in the way of goalmouth action in the first half.

Midway through the first half, striker Kayode Odejayi, making his first U's start for nearly two months, fired across goal and wide with only Orient goalkeeper Jamie Jones to beat, after being fed by David Prutton's through pass.

But Orient had the moments too, with Sean Thornton nodding over from close range and the midfielder fired into the side-netting later in the half.

Anthony Wordsworth's header was tipped around the post by keeper Jones, just before the break.

But the opening 45 minutes finished goal-less and there was little indication of that changing, in the second half.

U's goalkeeper Ben Williams tipped over Ryan Jarvis' effort and then saved easily from Eric Lichaj.

And despite the introduction of substitutes Kevin Lisbie and Clive Platt, Colchester rarely looked like scoring.

Phil Ifil's header was saved off the line by Thornton late on from Wordsworth's corner late on and Williams saved at the feet of Jarvis.

But Lisbie confirmed his status as Colchester's leading goalscorer with his late penalty and sealed the U's win.
