Shell-shocked skipper Magnus Okuonghae described Colchester United’s defeat at ten-man Carlisle United as a “kick in the teeth”.
The U’s were beaten 2-1 at Brunton Park, having taken the lead midway through the second half through substitute Clive Platt’s goal.
Colchester conceded twice in the space of five minutes immediately after taking the lead to slide to a damaging defeat, in their on-going Coca-Cola League One promotion push.
It was a missed opportunity for the U’s, especially after promotion rivals Leeds United, Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town all lost their games.
Okuonghae told the Gazette: “It’s a kick in the teeth.
“Some of the other teams around us lost as well and we’re very disappointed."
