Colchester United manager Aidy Boothroyd has challenged his side to step up another level

Aidy Boothroyd has challenged his promotion-chasing Colchester United players to step up to another level.

Boothroyd believes the U’s are still growing as a team, following his six months at the helm.

Colchester travel to play Carlisle United tomorrow, hoping to enhance their play-off position in Coca-Cola League One.

Boothroyd admitted his team were not at their best in drawing 0-0 with Brighton and Hove Albion, on Monday night.

And ahead of the trip to Brunton Park, boss Boothroyd wants his side to be more incisive.

Reading the East Anglian its seems Carlisle will be fully prepared and will know how to handle us today. Its easy stop the balls reaching our two front men who ever we might have playing. I dont feel confident at all today. We will have to wait and see but im still concerned regards certain players that get picked week in week out. Also you can not blame the players all the time if they have to play to the system the manager wants them to play to. Every club we play the after match reports from them are scathing of the type of footbal we play. I have had a season ticket for many years but next year i will buy my seat only match to match. I sincerely hope we get a result today. Up the U's
