Colchester United are hoping that defender Paul Reid will still be able to play a part in their season run-in.
The U's centre-half has experienced an injury-hit season, having recovered from a long-term knee injury.
Reid has started only nine games for the club so far in this campaign.
The 28-year-old former Barnsley man will not travel up to Carlisle United with the rest of the U's squad, tomorrow night.
However, Reid recently underwent a back injection, in a bid to cure him of the niggly injuries which have prevented him from returning to the first-team set-up.
Manager Aidy Boothroyd said: "He’s got to the route of the problem but we’re wrapping him up in cotton wool at the moment.
"We’re trying to make sure that he’s 100 per cent right and if we can do that for the last 10 or 11 games, it will be a real plus."
