Colchester United assistant manager John Ward insists the U's have a point to prove when they go to Carlisle at the weekend

JOHN Ward believes Colchester United’s players will have something to prove this weekend.

And the U’s number two fully expects a positive reaction from them at former club Carlisle United.

Colchester’s disappointing display against Brighton and Hove Albion on Monday night was criticised by some fans.

But as he prepares to return to Brunton Park, where he led the Cumbrians to the play-offs in 2008, Ward expects the promotion-chasing U’s to bounce back to form.

Ward told the Gazette: “Both teams have something to prove on Saturday."

Yep your right there! Since they have made the final in the mickey mouse cup thing they have gone off the boil, so we need to hit them hard, with pace and width and I am sure we'll win. Also all our rivals have hard games so for me this is a must win for us! Up the U's!

Agreed.

It'll be tough, but this is the best time to play at their place, with their minds on the JPT.

I've seen too many lousy away performances, with only a few ( one notably.. ) that have been above mediocre, to get hopes too high though. I'll be there, cheering them on in any case.

Wish I was going to the game but cant make it unfortunately. I have seen plenty of awful away performances to, where we have thrown away points. Hope everybody who goes to the game has plenty to cheer. Will be going to Walsall next week. Up the U'S. At least you wont have to endure another lack lustre Izett performance!!!!
